WeCode KC Awarded 2025 Hunt Family Foundation Grant
WeCode KC is proud to announce that we have been selected as one of eighteen recipients of the 2025 Hunt Family Foundation Grant. This distinguished recognition honors our ongoing commitment to creating equitable pathways in technology through education, workforce development, and hands-on experience for youth in Kansas City. On the first day of practice for the Kansas City Chiefs, WeCode KC was honored during a special presentation by Chairman Clark Hunt and Ishmael Shumate, MBA. As part of this recognition, WeCode KC received a customized commemorative football symbolizing the shared values of excellence, leadership, and community impact. The grant will directly support our innovative workforce development program by providing stipends and internship opportunities for students learning full-stack development and cybersecurity. These opportunities are designed to equip our students with real-world skills and experience to thrive in today’s tech industry. We are deeply grateful to the Hunt Family Foundation for their partnership and investment in our mission. Together, we are building a stronger, more inclusive future in technology.

Our mission is to give youth the opportunity to learn technology concepts, and leadership skills; creating a pipeline of future-ready professionals through project-based learning and innovative programs.
We're an initiative that serves the urban core of Kansas City, exposing youth to various computer science concepts. Every child, no matter their zip code or their family’s financial status, should have the opportunity to learn to code.

WeCode KC Careers, provides young adults ages 18-26 the opportunity to earn technical and cybersecurity certifications to enhance their career opportunities through real-world learning, preparing them for college, entrepreneurship or the workforce.
Ages 7-17
WeCode KC Futures provides scholars ages 7-17 with the opportunity to start coding and learn software programming skills through project-based learning, developing a passion for technology.
